Bamford LuckTitle: Bamford Luck

Pages: 262
Genre: Western
Format: Kindle/Paperback/Hardcover

Twenty-eight-year-old Clay Bamford mistakenly thinks he is just bidding his parents farewell for a short time as they depart their Idaho ranch for a vacation. As their RV heads down the road away from home, Clay has no idea that in just a short time, his parents will be murdered and he will be left attempting to solve the crime. Luong An Chie’n—the patriarch of a Seattle Asian gang—is intent on doing whatever it takes to ensure he remains successful as a drug smuggler. When fate leads a few of his gang members to an encounter with the elderly Bamfords that ends in their untimely deaths, he is clueless that Clay Bamford has begun his own mission to find the guilty parties. Using his United States Army training, work ethic, and country boy toughness, the son hacks computers, intercepts e-mails, and infiltrates the gang. Determined to crack the crime operation, Bamford will stop at nothing until he finally leads police to a fish market—and what he hopes are the answers. In this gripping tale, an Idaho rancher attempting to solve his parents’ murder uncovers a major drug operation in Seattle where only time will tell if he finds the justice he so desperately needs.

Driving south from Missoula, Montana along Highway 93 through the Bitterroot Mountains the changes in terrain became a constant companion. Truly beautiful countryside in the story which eventually became Bamford Luck suddenly started to come alive in my head. Each evening the laptop got a good workout on drafts of several parts of the book that I wanted to put in writing before they could slip out of my memory. It's a good memory being excited about the parts of the story rattling around my brain. Prudence dictated not taking any chances. The handy notebook received her entries about the area and even character names came to mind. Arriving at the time to Challis, Idaho it felt right, this was where the ranch belonged. Suddenly the ranch made a mental move from Montana to the mountains of Idaho. Driving the streets of Challis, looking at the town, its buildings and schools, the area and the atmosphere felt comfortable. This area would provide a good home for the Bamford ranch. There is much to see in the area in one of the most striking sites is a rock cliff located east of the town of Arco, Idaho. Generations of high school graduating students have painted the year they finished school on the face of the cliff going back to 1922. At least that was the oldest number my eyes found. IN the over 90 years since the custom started it may now be fourth generation students doing the painting. This tour of Idaho wend down the eastern side of Idaho and curved around to the west through Mountain Home, Boise and north to Lewiston, Moscow and Coeur D'Alene where the picture of the author on the books back cover was taken. Writing fiction is a challenge involving hard work, requiring diligent perseverance. When the manuscript is finished and sent off to an agent it has been another enjoyable experience. For anyone who has a burning desire to write I can only say, Do It.

Arthur C. Eastly was educated at the University of Oklahoma. He enjoys writing frontier stories that enhance the self-reliance, determination, and courage our ancestors used to face dangerous hardships and move forward. His novel,Black Arrow, won second place in a New York fiction contest. Arthur currently resides in Alberta, Canada. This is his third book.

According to E. Douglass Brown, modern science has silenced all doubt among open-minded informed people that life emanates from an intelligent designer. The all-encompassing, distinct characteristic of the human being is an inborn link to the spirit of God. To cultivate that link, the Creator provides human beings with a divine paradigm for self-development. In Self-Knowledge and Spiritual Yearning: The Role of Spirituality in Psychological Health, Dr. Brown offers revitalizing prescriptions from the Quran for cultivating a healthy personality and for healing the person who has suffered psychospiritual injury and rupture from his or her true self. Dr. Brown also describes seven stages of psychospiritual self-development identified centuries ago by Islamic scholars and mystics, and provides examples of behavior in each stage. Through the use of universal metaphors, Dr. Brown explains how a person advances to higher levels of self-awareness, finally culminating in unfettered God-consciousness. He also includes instructions from the Quran about how to overcome life situations that impede your progress in achieving a greater plane of consciousness. Life/Death Rhythms of Capitalist Regimes - Debt Before Dishonour by Will Slatyer Book Blast - Win a $25 Gift Card

702817_Blog Tour_L1

The Life Death RythmsTitle: Life/Death Rhythms of Capitalist Regimes - Debt Before Dishonour
Author: Will Slatyer
Publisher: Partridge Publishing
Genre: Business and Economics
Format: Ebook/Paperback

Life/Death Rhythms of Capitalist Regimes – Debt before Dishonour explores the cyclical theory of cultural development, with particular attention paid to the introduction of democratic forms of government in the British Empire and the United States republic. The cyclical theory allows a forecast of the fading of the dominance of the United States as an imperial power. Similar to cultural survival of the loss of dominance experienced by the British Empire after the Great War, the United States will survive in a new form. Which superpower will take over the reins remains to be seen, but the likely contender is the People’s Republic of China. This conclusion and the timing will allow long-term planning by corporations and governments. In the age of political correctness, it is unlikely that readers will experience any such forecasts by government bodies. Throughout history, societies have used and abused debt, revolted and warred over debt, and have forbidden usury. But the modern financial world as we know it simply cannot exist without usury. Since the 1400s, modern governments have found new ways to expand debt to produce modern economies, which are still subject to the age-old basic principle of debt – that it needs to be repaid or dire consequences ensue.

Spiney The Unwanted Christmas Tree by Wayne Mclendon Book Feature - Win a $25 Amazon Gift Card

Title: Spiney The Unwanted Christmas Tree
Author: Wayne Mclendon
Publisher: AuthorHouse
Genre: Children's Fiction
Format: Paperback

This was Spiney’s Christmas. He was almost eleven feet tall and much bigger than the other trees. He began getting ready weeks before Thanksgiving. He would shake his branches to remove all of the dead nettle and old bird nests that had been used in the spring. Spiney still let the birds perch in his branches. He really liked that because they were his friends.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I am a grandfather who graduated from Auburn University in fisheries in December of 1969. I have owned and operated a fish farm for over forty-five years. I wrote the book Spiney: The Unwanted Christmas Tree page by page on a long trip hauling fish from Auburn, AL, to Lake Village, AR. I have never written a book before. The book, Spiney, was written for my grandchildren. I wanted them to realize that Christmas trees do not always come from a tree farm or a tree lot. Finding the perfect tree was always a special event for me, my brother, my sister, and my dad. The story, Spiney, was written about trees that were not perfect and were never chosen to be someone's centerpiece for the Christmas holidays..

Dancing for Fun by Mark L. & Helena Greathouse Book Blast - Win a $25 Amazon Gift Card!

Title: Dancing for Fun
Author: Mark L. and Helena Greathouse
Publisher: iUniverse
Genre: Education
Format: Ebook

Dancing is part of being human. Our earliest ancestors moved their bodies to the accompaniment of rhythms and chants. This urge to move, together with sounds or music, is part of our human nature. Dancing for Fun, the second in the series, presents dances in which you can express your deepest feelings together with music—alone or with a group of any size.

Author Mark L. Greathouse, in collaboration with his wife Helena, offers original piano compositions and professionally written choreography for reference. Links to YouTube videos show one dancer in the group demonstrating each dance. The dances are original, folk-inspired, and contemporary, and they focus on one of the few ways anyone and everyone can engage in movement while simultaneously having fun and interacting with others.

The online videos visually show how to perform the moves. The written choreography for each dance is presented in Dancing for Fun to match the dance exactly with the music. In this guide, the Greathouses offer the opportunity to learn to dance as easily as possible and have fun at the same time.

“The titles of these books say it all: Fun! The piano melodies and dances in these books can be done with a wide variety of skill levels and group sizes.” —Michael Mecham, American Dance Magazine

This is the culmination of what began on October 6, 2013, at 8:12 a.m. It was to be The Blue Book: The Ultimate Project. In increasing clarity, these books show first the preparation and then the arrival in the first book—which, I freely admit, is not easy to read. But any change that I made, made it nearly impossible to continue until I reversed the change that I had made. It was realised that things had to be effectively translated. This is what led to the creation of The Red Book. So using what I had learned and figured out, I applied the same technique to a digital camera, and the results speak for themselves.

Interview with Judith Somborac, author of Tug-of-War

Title: Tug-Of-War
Author: Judith Somborac
Publisher: iUniverse
Pages: 148
Genre: Historical Fiction
Format: Kindle/Paperback

In 1942, in the midst of World War II, three factions struggle for power and control over Serbia: the Royalists, the Partisans, and the Nazis. For those living there, life was put on hold indefinitely while they coped daily with the terrorization of war—an especially disheartening situation for the country’s young people. Fifteen-year-old Miriana, an only child, lives in a small, two-bedroom house in Bela Palanka, Serbia, with her parents, who farm and run a saw and gristmill. Their tiny home now accommodates her mother’s sister and nephew, who have been forced to evacuate from German-occupied Belgrade. Miriana’s aunt is frequently called upon by the Germans to translate for them—a task made more stressful by the fact that the family is also hiding a Partisan soldier in the cellar of the house. Being caught means certain death. Meanwhile, Miriana’s best friend, Stefan, supports his widowed mother and aging grandparents on a nearby farm; he resents having to abandon his aspirations for an education and his passion for the violin to run the farm. Their existence is fraught with the angst of evening curfews, blackout curtains at night, unforeseen air raids, and conflict with the Nazis, but family, friends, and small pleasures propel them through a war that threatens their happiness and their lives on a daily basis.

Has someone been instrumental in inspiring you to write?

I think the first time I knew I had writing skills was in grade eleven. Even though I butted heads with my English Grammar teacher, my English Literature teacher who could see my drive supported and encouraged me. (To this day I don’t know we had separate teachers for Grammar and Literature.) Even after I moved to a different province, I corresponded with my mentor, my grade eleven English Literature teacher, the late Mrs.Criddle.  I give her a lot of credit for acknowledging my interest and talent.

Who is your favorite author? Why?

This question is just too tough to answer: there are so many good writers. It will help if I narrow it down to Canadian authors and say Margaret Laurence. Her works have a universal quality to all the imagery that I respect and enjoy. Aside from Laurence’s works, I can answer the question by saying that one of my favorite genres of work is historical fiction.

What was your first sale as an author?

My first SALE, for cold hard cash, was an article I wrote for Ski Canada magazine on children’s clothing and equipment. The article was entitled, “Get ready, Get set, Go!”

When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?

I do not have a daily writing routine.  I am probably one of the most erratic writers you know. I tend to work long hours once I start and once I am engrossed in the writing but I freely admit I am not the best organizer of time. I am not afraid of work and have always been willing to roll up my sleeves and get a job done thoroughly and well (including my writing) but I do not enjoy routine. I like variety in life. For example, I have been a supply teacher for many years and I really enjoy the mixture of classrooms and children and the occasional hours. I try to balance many activities in my life and for the most part, it works for me. If I have a deadline, I dig in and get the job done.
I know artists, writers and painters in particular, who have regular hours: Monday to Friday 9 to 5. They are consistent and productive. I admire them and sometimes think about trying to be the same but as Shakespeare said, “To thine own self be true.”

The only consistency I have is that I write during the day. I’m too tired at night to focus.

What is the hardest part of writing books?

By far the most difficult part of writing a book is selling the book. Certainly there were stumbling blocks along the way during the process of writing “Tug-of-War,” (dramatic changes in life’s circumstances heading the list), but at the time I had no idea how demanding the after part would be. It takes so much time, effort and money to get the book recognized and read. I find I am busy nurturing my social media pages, Twitter, Facebook and my blog to promote my first book.  It takes away writing time that I could be using on my next book(s).

Secret History by Martin Roberts Book Feature

Title: Secret History
Author: Martin Roberts
Publisher: AuthorHouse
Pages: 300
Genre: History
Format: Kindle/Paperback

This book is a fascinating account of a number of criminal cases in the United States and in the United Kingdom, some of which resulted in wrong convictions. The book is part narrative, part analysis. The analysis, in particular the demolition of the reputation of Whittaker Chambers,ex-spy and idol of many Americans (he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom) will arouse debate and rethinking of the real lessons of the cases. The British cases will shock the complacency of many British people. Both parts are relevant to the current debate on how to deal with Islamic terrorists, whose fanaticism recalls that of the IRA and supporters of Communism. The book includes an analysis of Communism and the way in which its supporters manipulate fact for their own ends.

Martin Roberts is a British subject living in Belgium. He began to study contested verdicts in criminal cases when he started to study for a law degree, and this book is the result. He trained as an archivist and worked in that field for 26 years. This has given him a lot of patience and a bit of scepticism about what records tell us. He has sought to make his book user-friendly by quoting online sources and allowing the reader to find his way through the facts and arguments to reach his own conclusions.
