Book Blast: The Tinfoil Prince of Harlem by Cyril H. Price - Win a $25 Gift Card

Inside the Book:

Title: The Tinfoil Prince of Harlem
Author: Cyril H. Price
Publisher: iUniverse
Genre: Biography
Format: Ebook/Paperback

By all reasonable calculations, a black child who started life with as many formidable challenges as author Cyril H. Price shouldn’t have prospered to the point of happiness he currently enjoys. In fact, at eight years of age, Price’s policy was to stay out of trouble, eat, and just survive. Growing up in the heart of Harlem during the Great Depression, Price and his family did what they could to survive. In The Tinfoil Prince of Harlem, he shares the details of his life living in the midst of poverty, hunger, racism, family upheavals, and gangs. From his birth in New York City, to Ethiopia, to Trinidad, and back to New York City, Price tells about the death of his father at the age of forty-three and how his mother barely made ends meet to feed Price and his older sister. Including details about his schooling, living conditions, and scrounging for bottles to earn money, The Tinfoil Prince of Harlem shares how one African-American boy rose to the challenge. He eventually became a dentist, an author, and a professor and raised a family of his own.

Cyril H. Price, a graduate of Howard University, is a retired dentist, professor, and dean of a community college in New York City. He has written three books, including a novel, Confessions of a Crusader. Price and his wife, Doris, have three grown children, and live in Millsboro, Delaware

Praise for The Bomb That Never Was “Hitler has the bomb, and it's headed for the USA. This meticulously researched historical novel will have you asking, ‘What if?' This is an intelligent, fast-paced page-turner that will make you forget that you already know how it all turns out. Provocative, informative, and entertaining—I couldn't put it down.” —Joseph P. DeSario, author of Limbo and Sanctuary and coauthor of Crusade: Undercover Against the Mafia & KGB “Authoritative and credible in its attention to detail, The Bomb That Never Was captures the spirit and temper of the WWII years and raises some deep philosophical questions about loyalty, treason, and commitment to country. A page-turner … tough to put down … a story well told.” —Robert L. Aaron, journalist and public relations executive

Saving Jesus

Title: Saving Jesus
Author: Ralph William Ausman
Publisher: iUniverse
Genre: Alternative History
Format: Ebook/Paperback

The canvas of history provides a complex pattern of culture, change, and conflict. Colorful individuals were often the driving forces behind the progression of history. Was there a grander purpose behind these developments, beyond the individual people, locations, and events? History often turns on a simple thought or decision by those in a position to have a significant impact on the ultimate course for humankind. What influence did some of the most significant personages in human history unknowingly contribute on the world stage, even beyond their own individual stories and experiences? Was his story truly the driving force of history, the basic thread that ties the global human experience together? Author Ralph William Ausman's novel, Saving Jesus: Resurrecting John the Baptist takes us on a journey through history, from the Holy Land, to China, India, Greece, and ancient Persia. It follows the origins of religious thought as world empires play out across the globe in preparation for the defining moment in world history: the birth of Jesus and the subsequent emergence of Christianity that would define world growth and development for the next two thousand years. Ausman looks at such questions as what would have happened had the wise men followed Jesus and his family or if John the Baptist had become Jesus's first disciple. Saving Jesus: Resurrecting John the Baptist is not intended as a refutation of the Bible. Instead, it invites you to take an interesting-and different-look at the most important events and people of history.

Meet the Author:
Ralph William Ausman earned a degree in computer science from California State University, Northridge. He then lived and worked in Europe and Singapore with his wife and daughter before returning to the United States. Ausman has always had an interest in different religions and their effects on culture and history.

INSIDE THE BOOK

Title: Palindrome
Author: E.Z. Rinsky
Publisher: Witness Impulse
Pages: 384
Genre: Mystery/Suspense
Format: Ecopy/Paperback

Private Eye Frank Lamb's business is simple: He finds things. Be it the world’s hottest pepper seed in a South American dictator's safe or a pair of Italian art forgers sipping Prosecco in a Miami hotel room, he delivers the goods and collects his check, never with a smile. Work is work, and he doesn’t let it get in the way of the life he’s made for himself and his ten-year-old daughter, Sadie.

But when a staggeringly beautiful woman offers him a small fortune to find a cassette tape, curiosity gets the better of him. It contains, she explains, a recording her sister’s kidnapper made of her last three minutes on Earth. She conveniently fails to mention the unsettling effects the tape is rumored to have on listeners.

Frank takes the case, and enlists the help of reclusive tracker Courtney Lavagnino to pick up a trail that's been cold for five years. As their search leads them through a horrifying labyrinth of murder and madness, it becomes clear they're chasing much more than a memento.
